The University of Oslo Human Rights Award 2020
This year's winner of the University of Oslo Human Rights Award is agronomist, entrepreneur and feminist Marcelline Budza. Join us in a digital celebration!
Marcelline Budza runs the coffee cooperative Rebuild Women's Hope in Eastern DR Congo. She works tirelessly for economic empowerment for women. She has been actively engaged in the fight for women’s rights and the empowerment of women in a country that has been plagued by conflict, corruption and multiple violations of women’s rights for more than two decades. Through this cooperative effort, which brings together more than 5,000 women, and based on the cultivation of coffee, she has managed to help many women become economically independent instead of overlooked and marginalized.
